Jimmy Carter's wisdom
July 20th, 2009After over 60 years of being a Southern Baptist, former President Jimmy Carter has left that church over how they treat women. He called their attitude “repugnant".

To tell the truth...
May 21st, 2009The truth about the war in Iraq is finally being told but I’m not sure anyone is listening. This is the closing line in a Time Magazine article by retired General Ricardo Sanchez:
In the meantime, hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars were unnecessarily spent, and worse yet, too many of our most precious military resource, our American soldiers, were unnecessarily wounded, maimed, and killed as a result. In my mind, this action by the Bush administration amounts to gross incompetence and dereliction of duty.

Texas
March 6th, 2009Ever wonder just why Texas executes more people each year than most countries?
This PBS article is informative and depressing. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/execution/readings/texas.html
Rick Warren
December 18th, 2008
So Rev. Rick Warren a Southern Baptist minister is going to give the invocation at the Inaguration. The Gay community is very upset by this choice. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28296499 That is the trouble with valuing diversity isn’t it. You have to welcome those you disagree with if you expect them to welcome you.
While I disagree with almost everything Rick Warren believes, there are millions of Americans who agree with him and they have a right to be included too.
You know grace is much easier to take than to give…
Newsweek
December 11th, 2008I have to admit that in a tough economic time I am amazed that a major news magazine took a courageous stand on the issue of gay marriage.
If you haven’t seen this weeks Newsweek go buy it…and then subscribe to offset all the canceled subscriptions they are likely to get.

For today “courage” is spelled “newsweek".
